From 1970 to 1984, I worked at UCSF during which time the IRB was created and I was the first director of what would be the HRPP. In 1984, following maternity leave, I opened an independent IRB named, Independent Review Consulting (IRC) which specialized in SBER and in medical devices. During this era I spoke consistently at PRIM&R and ACRP. In 2010, IRC merged with Ethical Review Committee (ERC) to create a new independent IRB named Ethical and Independent Review Services or E&I Review. I retired in 2016 and speak and zoom happily with IRB friends.
